Heavy rains affect traffic in Koppa

With the heavy rains lashing Koppa taluk, river Thunga and its tributaries were seen flowing at the danger level at several places in the taluk. Hundreds of acre farm land has been flooded in the areas close to Thunga river.

The movement of vehicles at Narve, B G Katte, Aradikoppa, Ambalike, Nagalapura, Karangi have been disrupted with the Thunga river flowing on the road. 

A landslide at Narve Ghat on Chikmagalur road was also affected. The work on clearing the landslide is under progress. Several houses have been inundated in Nagalapura. Paddy fields have been flooded. Flood water had entrered commercial complex at AMPC yard. In fact, a KSRTC bus was caught in the flood water at Karangi road.

Flood water had entered road at Narasipura. The movement of vehicles on Agumbe-Chikmagalur-Sringeri route was disrupted.  Paddy saplings at Narve were washed away in the water. A compound wall collapsed at Abbigadde halla and water gushed into the paddy fields. The portico of Jaladurga temple has collapsed in the rain.

All the water bodies were overflowing at Kalasapura.  Several houses have been damaged at Shanuvalli, Asagodu, Nagalapura and Harakanamakki.  With the landslide at Guddethota, the residents of the colony have been shifted to the safer areas. The taluk has recorded 185 mm rain in the last 24 hours. Holidays were declared for schools and colleges in the taluk. District-in-Charge Minister D N Jeevraj visited the flood affected areas in the taluk. Speaking on the occasion, he directed the district administration to carry out a survey on the damages.
