<p> A former assistant commissioner of customs was sentenced to three years in jail by a Delhi court on Thursday for possessing disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 19 lakh while being posted at a port in 1998.</p>.<p><br />Special CBI Judge Manoj Jain awarded a three-year jail term to Kulwaran Singh after convicting him under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.</p>.<p><br />Beside Kulwaran, his wife Kulwant Kaur and six accomplices were sentenced with varying jail terms. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Kulwaran. The railway protection force claimed to have recovered Rs 15 lakh in cash and gold worth Rs 1.5 lakh from Kulwant when she was travelling to Amritsar.</p>.<p><br />The CBI said after being questioned by the railway police, Kulwant was not able to give any convincing explanation and was arrested.</p>
