HCL Infosystems bags managed services deal from UIDAI

IT hardware firm HCL Infosystems today said it has bagged a contract from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for implementing and managing the Central ID Repository.

The contract, awarded on August 7, will see the entire end-to-end technology infrastructure of the UIDAI managed by HCL Infosystems as the designated managed services provider (MSP), HCL Infosystems said in a statement.

The contract is for a period of seven years, it added.No financial details were divulged.

"With the award of the MSP contract to HCL Infosystems, UIDAI looks forward to maximise efficiency and to bring to fruition the goal of providing a unique identification number to every Indian," UIDAI DDG (Technology) B B Nanawati said.

As the MSP, HCL Infosystems will be responsible for procurement and installation of the IT infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance.

The scope of work also includes technical helpdesk, support services and database administration, it said.
