Inaugurating a special excise police station at Vijayanagar here, he said that the excise enforcement and lottery prohibition wing was doing a ‘good’ job as it helped in increasing government’s revenue. He informed that the excise department remained ‘unaffected’ by recession, whereas the revenues of all other departments had decreased substantially due to it.
He said 41 excise police stations were sanctioned in the State; of these, 39 had been set up and the other two would be set up soon. He commended the department for setting up police stations despite falling short of the required staff.
Later, he said that the apprehensions of Justice K P Thomas, with regard to the setting up of a police establishment board, were ‘allayed’ after the latter met him. The Government Order about the board was issued on August 15, 2009 and it would remain in force till the board was set up, he informed.
