10k applications issued by BWSSB

»The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board issued more than 10,000 applications in the last two days for obtaining water and sanitary connections in the City. The actual work, will however, begin in the first week of September.

The Board has set up camps at various locations to issue applications. Consumers should submit the filled application form along with the necessary documents and pay Rs 2,040 towards meter, inspection and sanitary point charges. The Board requires about ten days for processing the applications further, said K Chandrashekhar, a nodal officer of a camp.

Cops suspended on bribery charge
»The Kothnur police inspector N Purushottam and constable Manjunath, who are facing bribery and corruption charges, were suspended from duty on Sunday. Purushottam has been remanded in judicial custody till August 21. The suspensions come in the wake of a report submitted by deputy commissioner of police (North-East), Ramesh.

The two had allegedly detained four persons illegally and demanded Rs seven lakh from their families for their release. Manjunath, who fled with Rs 2.5 lakh, is still at large. A case has been registered against the inspector and constable under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
