80 years on, Doddabilaha yet to see any development works!

 Doddabilaha is a tiny village in Dundalli gram panchayat limits and is situated just three kilometres away from Shanivarasanthe. The village has not seen any development since its inception 80 years ago.

There are 52 families residing in the village. ‘Pandavara guhe’ situated in the village is in dilapidated condition. Odamoodida Eshwara temple in the village is in poor condition and is waiting for renovation. The land belonging to the temple has been encroached by the private individuals.

The roads in the village are in deplorable condition. The surface of the road has been chipped off and has not seen asphaltation for the last several decades.

The poor condition of the road has been causing severe inconvenience to the public. There are no storm water drains as a result, rain water flows on the road itself. The village is devoid of all basic facilities. There are 100 acre farm land in the village. However, owing to lack of UGD system, all the drain water enters the field, thus spoiling the crops, said the villagers. The village also faces acute shortage of water.

It was during the reign of Jeevijaya, a water tank was constructed in the village. However, there are no pipelines to distribute water. The village has a lower primary school. Though 30 ashraya houses were constructed for the poor roofless, it has not been occupied owing to various reasons.The problems faced by the villagers have been brought to the notice of the Gram Panchayat members, PDO, Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat. Unfortunately, no action has been initiated to develop the village.

“We have sought works under Mahtama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. However, we did not get employment,” said residents. The residents had submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner to take up development works in the village.
