The Congress high command has advised Karnataka State unit leaders to sink differences and start preparing for next Assembly elections immediately.

In a marathon meeting of State leaders chaired by Karnataka in-charge general secretary Madhusudan Mistry here on Thursday night, the party also clarified that incumbent state unit president G Parameshwara will continue in the same post and under his leadership the party will face the next polls.

Dismissing the rumours that External Affairs Minister S M Krishna will return to State politics, Mistry in the meeting said that all senior leaders including Krishna will actively participate in strengthening the party. Krishna will remain as the Union minister, however along with other ministers from State, he will also tour the entire State, Mistry, reportedly informed.

The party also clarified that it will go for Assembly election alone and there will not be any pre-poll alliance with the JD(S). In the meeting, which convened mainly for sorting out differences among the leaders, also decided that both Parameshwara and Legislative Assembly Opposition leader Siddaramaiah together start taluk-wise tour immediately to mobilise party workers for polls.
