The most pertinent question

Last Updated 26 September 2009, 17:37 IST

The team physio and the experts have pointed out that the injured players do not get sufficient time and rest for recuperation. This is because the Indian cricket calendar is heavily burdened with international matches.

India plays more international cricket than any other country in the world. Here’s a scorecard of the major injuries suffered by players:
Sachin Tendulkar: There is hardly any part on his body that has not been
ravaged by injury.

Over the last  20 years he has suffered elbow, ankle, back, hamstring and groin injuries.
Gautam Gambhir: A groin injury forced him to skip the tri-series in Colombo , Sri Lanka earlier this month.

S Sreesanth: The paceman suffered a spate of injuries after the Kanpur Test against South Africa in 2008 and ever since he is out in the cold.
Rudra Pratap Singh: A hamstring injury bogged him down in early 2008 for
three weeks after the Adelaide Test against Australia. Missed the subsequent tri-series.
Ishant Sharma:  A big toe and finger injury kept the Delhi pacer out of the first two Tests against South Africa in early 2008.

Munaf Patel: The right-arm pacer
has suffered ankle and back injuries since 2007, reducing him to an
occasional figure in the squad.
