New Zealand medium pacer Doug Bracewell on Wednesday said that the Kiwis need to forget the fearful hammering they received in the first Test at Hyderabad and focus on the second Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, beginning on Friday.

Excerpts:

On the conditions: There looks to be a little grass, but they’ll definitely shave it off and keep it as dry as they can. But at the moment it looks quite nice and I think this overcast weather will also help us. If it stays like this, it might work in our favour a little.

Talking to the other guys who have played here, apparently, the pitch is quite similar (to Hyderabad) and takes a bit of turn. That wasn’t your typical Bunsen burner wicket but it took a little bit of turn. We’ll have a look at this wicket and then assess it from there.

On being 0-1 down the series: It’s tough being 1-0 down in a two-match series. We’ve got to forget that game, take all the positives we can. We’ve got to go all out in this game and try and get to one all.

On the state of spin in New Zealand: Obviously, we don’t face as much spin back home as when we come to the subcontinent. There’s a lack of spinners, there’s not a lot of spinners back home. There are a few young guys coming through, so that’s good.

On Daniel Vettori joining the squad in preparation for the T20s:  Dan has been around for a while – to talk to him and hear his thoughts is a good thing for us. I’m sure the guys are happy to have Dan back in the set up.
