Two convicts escape from Gurgaon jail

Two murder convicts managed to escape from the Bhondsi district jail on Friday as the jail complex was being cleaned, a police official said.

They were identified as Zile Singh, 27, of Rajasthan’s Alwar and Amit Kumar, 24, of Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.

As a cleaning exercise was undertaken by a group of prisoners, the two seized the opportunity to flee, said the official.

Their absence came to light during a counting parade, the official added.

A case has been registered against jail officials, the official said.
