Prez awards for 16 State teachers

President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday pitched for application of new technologies in the development of curriculum at all stages of education to improve its quality.

He was addressing a function organised by the the Human Resource Development Ministry to mark the Teacher’s Day. On the occasion, a total of 310 teachers from different parts of the country were conferred national awards for their outstanding contribution in the field. Sixteen teachers from Karnataka were among the awardees.

Speaking on the occasion, Human Resources Minister Kapil Sibal said his Ministry would launch a national mission for teachers’ education and training in the 12th five-year-plan.
For the first time, 20 other teachers were also given national awards for their contribution in promotion of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the school education for the years 2010 and 2011.
