Chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday presented the state teacher awards to 76 teachers.

She said Delhi is proud of its teachers as it is only because of their hard work and commitment that the board exam results of Delhi have gone up to 92-97 per cent, compared to 50-60 per cent a decade ago.

“Our government has been commissioning 50 to 60 schools every year, apart from ensuring innovations in imparting education.

Today, we gracefully recognise the contribution of Delhi teachers and present them with state-level awards as our gratitude,” she said.

“No one can become a doctor or engineer without being taught by a teacher.”

MLAs O P Babbar, Balram Singh Tanswar, Jaswant Rana and senior officers of the education department were present.
