Metrolife Fashion Show: Dazzling display

The prelims are over and now, it’s time for the climax — the grand finale of the Metrolife Fashion Show is going to be held on September 8 at Dayananda Sagar Institutions.

The nine finalists from each zone have been selected and are pitching in their best to stand out and shine on the ramp. From the east west zone, Mount Carmel College, CMRIT and Garden City College emerged as the winners.

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Surana Degree College and the girls from Jyoti Nivas College stole the show in the south zone. And in the north, the winners were MS Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce; Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology came second, while the boys from Acharya Institute of Technology came a close third.

The teams know what’s at stake — the prize money up for grabs is huge. The winning team will walk away with a whopping Rs one lakh worth of gift vouchers, while the second and third prizes comprise Rs 80,000 and Rs 60,000 worth of gift vouchers respectively.

There will be two consolation prizes for Rs 30,000 each and the best male and female models with walk away with gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000 each. The best part is that no one will go empty handed — the last four finalists will get their hands on vouchers worth Rs 10,000 each as well.

Each team has been given a theme — ‘Colours of Metrolife’ — and have to base their collection on this. The entire show has been put together by choreographer Mithilesh Nyathappa, while the music is being handled by DJ Sandy. Emcee Abbas will be compering the event.

Haute couture isn’t all the audience has to look forward to — the finale will also have dances by teams from Mount Carmel College and Dayananda Sagar Institutions, as well as a foot-tapping performance by Thalavattam, the City’s hottest new percussion project.

The finale will also have a round in which the students will showcase some of the chicest designs in the City, for brands like INMARK, John Players, Only Jia, Kalanjali, Brand Factory, Pantaloons, People, Flying Machine and Avirate.
