Rs 169 crore proposal for drought works

Speaking at hobli-level Janaspandana held at Gownipalli in the taluk recently, he said that the district requires 60,000 MT of fodder. He disclosed that 2,050 Raja Kaluve (inlets to waterbodies) have been encroached and steps will be taken to clear the encroachment. He called for imposing restriction on transportation of sand and closing of dried up borewells.
Presiding over the programme, legislator G K Venkatashiva Reddy  suggested the rural population to take total advantage of Janaspandana, a programme to take administration to doorsteps.

Grievances
He said that Janaspananda is being held to facilitate rural population to redress their grievances and hence they should seek solution for their problems on the spot itself at Janaspandana. He said that top priority has been accorded to supply of drinking water, construction of roads and houses for the poor in the taluk.

Zilla Panchayat president M Srinivasan, who inaugurated the programme, said that Gownipalli, a commercial centre in the border area and has better infrastructure facilities and hence should be upgraded as a Town Panchayat. The objective of Janaspandana is to prevent people from rural areas coming to taluk centres for their various tasks at government offices, he elaborated.

Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer G V Rangarao, deputy secretary Lakshminarayan, Assistant Commissioner Peddappaiah, DDPI Prahlada Gowda and others were present.
