Confusion continues over mass feeding at Talacauvery

Controversy clubbed with difference of opinion is surrounding ‘Annadana’ issue which is offered to devotees on Theerthodbhava day in Talacauvery.

Difference of opinion has emerged in BJP leaders and the District BJP unit has maintained silence over the matter.

Though the BJP leaders who are the office-bearers of the temple administrative committee have brought regulation on Annadana, Virajpet Taluk BJP General Secretary Rajeev Bopaiah in a press  statement has questioned the decision as he asked, “why do we need some one’s permission to offer Annadana in temple?”

When media persons asked District BJP President B D Manjunath about his stand on the issue on Friday, he fumbled to answer.

“We have not discussed the issue in the party forum so far. I would be able to answer only after holding discussions,” said Manjunath.

On asked his opinion about Rajeev Bopaiah’s statement, he said “it was his personal stand.” The media questioned him about the allegations that the party is not considering the opinions of the local party leaders while taking decisions and is following fascist attitude on the issues like Annadana, shifting of Ponnampet Forest College to Shimoga University, construction of Madikeri private bus stand. Responding to such allegations, the President said that a few people were giving different statements only for the sake of criticising BJP and Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.
