Construction worker falls to death

A construction worker died after falling from a building in Mahadevapura on Monday morning. The victim has been identified as Neeraj, 22, a resident of Kengeri New Town.

A native of Bihar, Neeraj came to Bangalore a few years ago and became a construction worker. While working on the fourth floor of a building under construction, Neeraj reportedly lost his balance and fell at around 9 am.

Although he was rushed to a private hospital in Kundalahalli, doctors declared him as ‘brought dead’, police said.

Two women end lives

To allegedly escape harassment over dowry, two women committed suicide in the city over the last 24 hours.

A 24-year-old housewife, Shabareen, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her house on Tuesday morning in Tilak Nagar.

She and her husband of five years, Mukthiyaar, have two children.
Mukthiyaar allegedly abused her physically and mentally.   This led Shabareen to take the extreme step late on Monday, police said. They added that she committed suicide while other members of the family were sleeping.

She was found by Mukthiyaa on Tuesday morning. A case has been registered at Tilak Nagar Police Station.

In another case, a newly wed girl killed herself by consuming poison on Monday evening in Siddapura.

The deceased has been identified as Sayeeda, 20. Married three months ago to Aftab Basha, who works in the scrap industry, police admitted that a clear motive for the suicide is still unknown. Sayeeda’s parents alleged that Aftab and his family had not allowed their daughter to visit them since her marriage, and suspect that she was being harassed for more dowry.

Boy killed in accident

A three-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a tractor, near a building that is under construction in the Kamakshipalya traffic police limits.

The accident occurred on Monday afternoon when the boy, Prajwal, was playing near the building, located near the steel factory in Muneshwar extension area on Ullal Main Road. After hitting the boy, the tractor driver fled the scene. The victim’s mother, Anitha, stays at a makeshift shed on the construction site.

Police said that she had been staying alone with her son after her husband deserted the family a few months ago.

Man dies in mishap

A man and his son were severely injured after a sand-laden lorry struck their scooter from behind at Kuruburahalli on Tuesday.

Ravikumar, 45, and Vivek, were on their way home when the accident happened. A sand-laden lorry, speeding on Kurubarahalli Main Road, rammed the scooter. Ravikumar, who sustained severe head injuries, died on the way to hospital.

Vivek is said to be out of danger. Police said that the lorry driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene.
