Parts of City plunges into darkness

Last Updated 12 September 2012, 19:03 IST

Several parts of the City around KR Road plunged into darkness since Wednesday afternoon.

The places around Sajjan Rao Circle, KR Road, several parts of V V Puram, Shankarpuram, parts of Chamarajapet, Pampa Mahakavi Road, parts of Basavanagudi, Hanumanthnagar Vidyapeetha Circle and other places experienced total power failure.

According to several residents of these localities, there has been no power since 2 pm and several calls and trips to Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) offices did not make any difference.

“Examinations are approaching and our children have to study under candle light,” said Rajeshwari, a resident of KR Road, who called up this newspaper office. She complained that Bescom officials neither respond nor look into their complaints.

P Manivannan, Managing Director, Bescom, said a Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) line fault caused the power failure. Due to failure of incoming supply from 66KV Victoria station, power supply snapped in these areas. As an alternative an eleven KV changeover has been arranged, he added.
