JOIN USCAT registration to be extended
With four closed holidays and three Sundays from September 9 to October 1, the registration period, the IIMs are in the process to extend the registration period for the benefits of candidates.
Prof Satish Deodhar, Convenor, CAT 2009 said, “There have been four holidays in the past three weeks and September 30 is a bank holiday for half yearly accounts. We have sought all the seven IIM directors for consent on extension of last date for registration. In a day, the decision on extension of registration, with details about the number of days to be extended will be finalised”.
The convenor also said that as of now more than two lakh vouchers have been sold out, however the actual number of applications will be known at the end of registration period.
It may be recalled that candidates were allowed to edit personal and application data from September 18 till October 1. On response from candidates regarding the application, Prof Deodhar said, “We have not received queries from candidates , since the facility to edit applications began and candidates are directly interacting with Prometric, which is a good indication.” As many as 300 queries facing the technical glitch of computer based CAT from candidates had reached the IIMs in the first week of registration for test. Students who have purchased CAT vouchers for the second time will be reimbursed from Prometric. “Candidates who have bought vouchers for the second time will have to contact the IIMs or Prometric via email. The voucher will have to be scanned to the Prometric, who will then record details and then reimburse the amount. Students may call the toll free number or mail to IIMs,” Prof Deodhar explained. The ten-day window for taking up CAT is from November 28 to December 7, 2009.
