 A constable posted with Delhi Armed Police has been arrested for assaulting a Municipal Corporation of Delhi employee at Ambedkar Nagar in south east Delhi.

Rajender Nagar, a resident of CPO Block in Madangir, was held over a complaint lodged by Prakash Singh, who works with MCD’s malaria control department.

Prakash claims that he was on duty conducting a breeding-check when the incident took place on Thursday morning.

“He was on routine work at CPO Block in Madangir and Dakshinpuri block L. It has come to light that Prakash found larvae in Rajender’s house after which, he challaned him for it,” a senior police official said.

Allegedly abused him

He reached Rajender’s house where he was allegedly abused by Rajender’s wife after a minor altercation.

Rajender was not at home when the his wife and Prakash were arguing, but he reached there soon.

It is alleged that Rajender was against Prakash’s conducting the check and forcefully obstructed him.Then, Rajender, in a fit of rage, allegedly slapped Prakash and thrashed him in full view of his neighbours.

He is also accused of having used abusive language and threatening Prakash of dire consequences.After the attack, Prakash informed his mother who also lives in Madangir block D.


“Prakash’s mother rushed to the spot and made a call to the police control room after seeing him bashed,” the official added.A police control room vehicle later took Prakash to the AIIMS trauma centre, where he received treatment for minor injuries.

A case has been lodged against Rajender with Ambedkar Nagar police station.
He faces charges of obstructing public servant, causing hurt and criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.
