Mudigere govt college cries for basic amenities

Last Updated 29 September 2009, 18:30 IST

The college has witnessed admissions full to its capacity but there is a severe shortage of staff. Though the college has a drinking water facility, it is not functioning well. Though there are computers, there are no rooms to set them. Though the institution is on the threshold of its silver jubilee, it is not in a position to celebrate it.

The students are forced to sit in classrooms which do not have doors or windows.
Student organisations have staged several protests urging the development of the college but there has been no use. Even the previous district-in-charge minister Shankarmurthy and the present minister K S Eshwarappa had visited the college and assured of completing the first floor at the earliest.

Mudigere MLA M P Kumaraswamy is said to have granted funds for the project but it has not been released so far. He has assured that the constructions will be taken up once the rains are over. The MLA said the college already has BA, BCom and BBM courses but there is lack of space and  staff to start BSc course.
