Man accused of dacoity found dead

A 25-year-old man, who had been out of prison on bail just a fortnight ago, was found dead with his throat slit in a deserted shed in Metro Layout, Pillappanakatte on Sunday evening.

Rakesh, 25, was a resident of Rajagopala Nagar and an accused in a dacoity case. Police said he was also wanted in many chain snatching cases in Jnanabharathi police station limits.

On Sunday, some men working at Metro Layout, found a body wrapped in a mat in an abandoned shed. They soon alerted the police. The Kamakshipalya police rushed to the spot.

Police said Rakesh was done to death with a knife as the weapon was found near the spot. He had also suffered an injury on the head, they added.

Senior citizen killed

A senior citizen died after being struck by a BMTC bus on Magadi Road on Sunday afternoon.

Jai Krishna Ram Krishna, 60, a resident of Magadi Road was the manager of a workshop, said Magadi Road police.

Krishna was returning home on his two-wheeler after visiting a friend’s home, when a BMTC bus operating on the KR Market-Aralimarapalya route, collided with his vehicle near Prasanna theatre. Krishna came under the wheels of the bus and was killed on the spot.

A large mob which gathered at the spot stoned the bus. Police intervened and pacified the mob. The accident resulted in a traffic jam on Magadi Road for more than an hour, police added.
