All India Movement (AIM) for Seva, a public charitable trust that works with rural and tribal children under the United Nations Organisation (UNO), will be conducting Balle Balle – ‘Mela for a Cause’ on September 22, 10 am to 8 pm at St Mark’s Cathedral, M G Road.

The fundraiser will be a celebration, in the spirit of national integration, showcasing and tracing the vibrant culture of Punjab.

The venue is set to buzz with all things Punjabi. From the Dhol Dhamaka, which will see musicians play the drums to transport one to a village in Punjab, to folk and traditional dancers, who will perform the high-energy bhangra to engage the crowds.

To satisfy the Punjabi palate, there will even be a large spread of authentic Punjabi food from well-known local restaurants to choose from. One of the highlights of the day will be a talk on ‘National Demographic Unity’ by Chiranjiv Singh, former development commissioner of Karnataka, at 11.30 am.

“When people rushed back to the North-East, we wanted to spread the idea that we are all one beyond geographic boundaries. We decided to do a fundraiser in a fun way so that it has a deeper impact on those who visit,” explains Minku Buttar, a volunteer with AIM for Seva.

“Lucky Ali will be our chief guest and will address the audience at 12.45 pm on national unity. Those who support the cause of rural and tribal children, come to be a part of this fun-filled family event!” says Minku.

This mela will see a perfect balance of fun and seriousness to drive home the cause. While the mothers can do some tarot card reading or a little shopping to add colour to their wardrobes, the kids can be engaged in pot making, face painting, puppet
shows, hair braiding and other entertaining things. You can also take a family portrait on a tractor in Punjabi attire.

The raffle tickets cost Rs 200, adult donor passes
cost Rs 100 and child donor passes (5-12 years) cost Rs 50. For tickets, call Namita Kejriwal on 9901300999.
