Boy drowns in quarry pit

A 11-year-old boy drowned in a quarry pit in KR Puram Sunday noon.

According to police Mohin had accompanied his mother to a quarry pit to wash clothes.

The area has several large pits created on account of blasts conducted for quarrying and water had accumulated in them due to heavy rain over the last few weeks.

While his mother was busy washing clothes, Mohin ventured into a pit for a swim and drowned, police added.
