The members who blocked the road for more than 30 minutes alleged the road had been in bad condition due to the negligence of the officials.
Raising slogans against the officials, members ridiculed the legislators from the region for failing to exert control over the officials due to which development works had suffered.
They also demanded apshalting of various roads in the taluk.
Public Works Department’s Assistant Engineer Krishnamurty who visited the spot directed the officials to repair the roads.
The members withdrew the protest only after the assurance from Krishnamurty.
The protest was lead by Dalit Praja Sene’s S N Anand. Leaders Venkatesh, Kumar, Shanmugam, Manjunath and others were present.
