Shanth Kumar elected PTI vice-chairman

R Lakshmipathy, publisher of Tamil daily “Dinamalar” and K N Shanth Kumar, editor of Kannada daily “Prajavani,” sister publication of “Deccan Herald,” have been elected chairman and vice- chairman, respectively, of the board of directors of the Press Trust of India (PTI).

At the PTI annual general meeting held here on Monday, Lakshmipathy, who has served as PTI Chairman twice earlier, succeeded M P Veerendrakumar, Chairman and Managing Director of the “Mathrubhoomi” group of newspapers.

Shanth Kumar, who is also the editor of Kannada monthly “Mayura,” is a director of The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited, publishers of “Deccan Herald,” “Prajavani,” “Sudha” and “Mayura.” He was earlier president of the Audit Bureau of Circulations which verifies circulation data published by newspapers and periodicals.
