Last Updated 25 September 2012, 18:20 IST

Aravind Narona, a director of the Gulbarga-Bidar Milk Producers’ Societies’ Union, was brutally murdered by unknown men Tuesday night.

The 52-year-old former chairman of the Union and JD(S) leader was reportedly shot at first, and later his head was chopped off near the Aland Naka, just beside his shopping complex, under construction on the Gulbarga-Aland Road.

He is survived by wife Mangala Narona, a sitting member of the Zilla Panchayat from Narona constituency, a daughter, father and mother.

A feud in the family, dating back to 1983, over property is stated to be the reason for the tragic end of the leader. Aravind was involved in a number of criminal cases.

The police do not have immediate clues about the suspects and the modus operandi employed in the crime.
