Rolls-Royce to have showrooms in three more Indian cities

Luxury automobile manufacturer Rolls-Royce will have showrooms in three more Indian cities by the first quarter of 2013 to reach out to more customers.

“The market trend is very positive and we are optimistic of this trend continuing. We have plans to open new centres at three more cities in India by 2013,” Hal Serudin, Rolls-Royce's communications manager, Asia-Pacific, told IANS Wednesday.

The company is currently present in four cities - New Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad.

“We plan to start our first showroom in Chandigarh by the year-end. Within the next one-two year we expect to be in six-seven cities. This will provide us an opportunity for doing 100 plus car business per year in India,” Serudin said.

Serudin was speaking on ths sidelines of the launch of the company's super luxury car Phantom Series II at a price band of Rs.5-6 crore, depending on the configurations.

The car is powered by V12 direct injection engine which improves fuel consumption by 10 percent on the combined cycle which as a result reduce carbon emissions from 388 to 347 grams per km. The luxury car also comes with a new eight-speed automatic gearbox and rear differential.

The new passenger vehicle also sports an 8.8-inch control centre display which gives information, maps and video content. The exterior of the car can be chosen from a selection of 44,000 external paint hues and interiors can be selected from a limitless wood veneer options, leather styles and colours.

Last year, Rolls-Royce delivered 3,538 cars to customers worldwide, up 31 percent on the previous year’s total of 2,711.
