Free angioplasty workshop at Jayadeva

In what would be a good news for heart patients belonging to SC and ST, Sri Jayadeva Institute for Cardiovascular Sciences and Research has decided to extend them free diagnosis under SEP and TSP schemes, besides angioplasty.

This was announced by the director of the institute Dr C N Manjunath during his recent visit to the hospital on the premises of K R Hospital in the city. Manjunath who was happy to note that the hospital here has successfully treated 50,000 outpatients in a period of three years since its inception, stated that 9,000 in-patients are also treated in the same period. 

That apart, 5,000 cases of coronary angiogram, 1,000 coronary angioplasty, 100 permanent pacemaker cases have been successfully attended.

A total of 15 per cent patients have availed the benefits free of cost. The hospital aims at treating 50 poor patients of angioplasty at its Bangalore unit on September 29 as part of World Heart Day, the director added.

Most importantly, Indo-American Angioplasty Workshop has been organised in January next in Mysore and Bangalore. In Mysore alone 50 will be treated, and 200 in Bangalore.

Dr Sadanand, Dr Harsha Basappa, Dr Bharati, Dr Santosh, Dr Prabhuswamy and others were present.
