Lake tragedy: Another body found

 The body of Ganesh, 10,  who drowned in Kottanur lake on Saturday was traced on Sunday. The bodies of other three children - Madhu, Mamata and Prakash - were retrieved Saturday evening. The Fire and Emergency Service personnel had given up the operation due to nightfall.

Ganesh was found floating in the lake and neighbours pulled it out, before informing police. The body was shifted to  KIMS hospital for post mortem. All the four bodies were handed over to the family members later.

Homemaker found dead

A 24-year-old homemaker was found hanging dead,  from the ceiling fan in her house,  Saturday night at Nagareshwara Nagenahalli, Kottanur. 

Pavitra, 24, a native of Chikkajajur near Chitradurga was married to Suresh, a painter, for six years. The couple had two children. 

On Saturday, Suresh had gone out for work and returned late night. Pavitra was seen nowhere when he reached home. Enquiries with the children drew blanks.  Suresh later found Pavitra hanging from the ceiling fan in an unused room in the house, which was usually locked.

The reason for her extreme step is yet to ascertained. Police said Pavitra had not left behind any death note.

Dacoity

A gang of seven barged into a house in RHCS Layout, Annapoorneshwari Nagar and robbed valuables worth more than Rs three lakh, on Saturday.

According to police, the men came to the house of Omkar Murthy, an auto driver, on the pretext of collecting donation for Ganesha celebrations, but threatened the family members with lethal weapons.

 Manjunath, son of Murthy, was assaulted when he resisted the intruders.  
The gang made away with 100 grams of gold, four mobile phones and Rs 80,000 in cash. A case was registered at the Jnanabharati police station.

Palike employee run over

A 45-year-old BBMP employee was crushed under the wheels of a tractor at Mutturayaswamy temple on Peenya-Dasarahalli Road, Saturday night. Police said the accident occurred while Murthy was riding a bike with his daughter, Pavithra riding pillion.  He was unable to spot a huge stone on the road and rode the bike over it.

He lost balance and fell on the road while his daughter was thrown onto the other side of the road. A tractor coming from the opposite direction ran over Murthy. Pavithra sustained minor injuries, police said.
