<p>Water supply was disrupted for four days at Jayanagar 5th Block, 9th Main Road, as the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) workers broke water lines while replacing sanitary pipelines in the area. <br /><br /></p>.<p>To top this, the shoddy work on the pipeline has left the residents angry. “First, they dug up the road causing trenches to be filled with sewage water. Then they broke the water lines while replacing sanitary pipes. When approached, the contractor does not respond to our complaints and the BWSSB engineer is not accessible,” said Deepak Bellur, a resident.<br /><br />Traffic hit<br /><br />Traffic on the 9th Main Road has been affected since the Water Board began its work three weeks ago. Overflowing sewage water, the unbearable stench and earth dug up for laying sanitary pipelines have become a menace for residents, pedestrians and motorists alike. <br /><br />BWSSB Assistant Executive Engineer J Rajiv said that the work in the area was delayed as they were also constructing manholes. “The manholes need to be left for curing for a week. If we hasten the work, the manhole might just give way,” he said.<br /><br />On lack of water supply in the area, Rajiv said that a contractor has fixed the problem.</p>
