The Government of Karnataka on Saturday filed a special leave petition before the Supreme Court questioning Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s decision to reject the state government’s petition pleading to review the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) decision.

In the petition, Karnataka argued that the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) headed by PM has the right to review its decision. On September 19, the CRA headed by PM directed Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu till October 15.

Karnataka filed a petition before the CRA to review its decision saying that there is not enough water in its reservoirs. On October 11, the PM rejected the petition saying that as per section (9) of the CRA, the PM has no right to review its decision.
