BJP discusses poll strategy

As a run up to the Assembly elections in Gujarat in December, an all-important state executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party was held in Gandhinagar on Monday. Chief Minister Narendra Modi apart, the meet was attended by national leaders, including Nirmala SItharaman and Balbir Punj.

High on the agenda was the screening process for the probable candidates. Sources said that Observers are now expected to visit the state on October 18, for the scanning of candidates. Appointment of observers of the constituencies and campaign strategies were some of the issues that were discussed by the leaders in today’s meeting.

“The meeting was held to discuss strategies for the forthcoming two-phase elections,’’ said party spokesperson I K Jadeja. He said in the coming days, senior leaders will fan out to the districts to meet up with party workers. He said though the party was confident of winning the elections, the worry was about the newly delimited areas where newer strategies have to be worked out to increase the victory margin.
