A teenage girl was allegedly raped by a Sarpanch of Mehkepar village in the district, police said today.
The Sarpanch identified as Prakash Sonvane was booked today after the 19-year-old filed a complaint in Tirodi police station yesterday, Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) SPS Dabar told reporters here.
According to police, Sonavane allegedly sexually assaulted the girl with the help of his associates Sunil Nakode and Sheela Vatkar a few days back.
No arrests have been made so far, police said.
Local MLA Visheshwar Bhagat today gheraoed the police station demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
