JOIN USSD Prajwal Dev took out second-seeded Vishu Prasad 7-5, 6-2 to storm into the boys under-16 semifinals in the Fenesta Open National tennis championships on Thursday.
Prajwal will now meet Shashank Nautiyal, who fought back from a set down against Udayan Bhakar to win 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-2. Garvit Batra continued his good run of form and shocked fourth-seeded Fatehdeep Singh 6-1, 0-6, 3-6. He now plays M Sai Nikhil, who got the better of Gnana Bhaskar 7-6(8), 6-4.
In the girls under-16 singles, the top two seeds S Snehdevi and Pranjala Yadlapalli had an easy outing in their quarterfinal matches. Snehdevi swept aside Himani Mor 6-1, 6-1 while Pranjala got the better of Nayanika Reddy 6-3, 6-1. Snehdevi meets fourth-seeded Akshara Iska, who beat Devanshi Bhimjiyani 6-2, 6-3 while Pranjala faces Ramya Natrajan, who defeated Vanshika Sawhney 7-6(3), 6-4.
In the boys U-14 singles, top seed BR Nikshep takes on Paramveer S Bajwa while Alex Solanki plays Sanil Jagtiani in the semifinals. In the corresponding girls category, top seed Sruta Kirti Gungunati squares off against Mihika Yadav and Himani Mor takes on Vanshika Sawhney in the semifinals on Friday.
