State govt hikes DA

The State has increased the dearness allowance (DA) by four per cent of the basic salary to all its employees. The increased DA is effective from July 1, 2012.

The Central government had in September increased the DA to its employees by 7 per cent, with effect from July 1.

According to Karnataka State Government Employees’ Association President L Byrappa the government should have increased the DA by 4.23 per cent.

The rise will result in salary going up by at least Rs 370 a month for those whose basic salary is Rs 9,600, he said.
