Cop's son assaults N-E students

An assistant police commissioner’s son and his friends allegedly assaulted a few North-East students near the National Games village Thursday night.

Suhail Khan, the son of ACP Dawood Khan attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), allegedly got into an altercation with a few students from Mizoram, when he asked them not to play blaring music at their house.

Suhail and his friends allegedly told them that the music from their house disturbed the neighbourhood.

During the fight that ensued, Suhail and his friends assaulted the students, sources said.
The students, who were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, later tried to register a complaint with the Adugodi police.

The police declined comment and said the groups have reconciled.

Two killed in accidents

A motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider seriously injured when a BMTC bus hit their two-wheeler near Gubbalala Gate, Kanakapura Road, Friday morning. The accident occurred when Nandeesh Achari, 23, a resident of Gottigere, Ramnagar was on his way to a book store on MG Road where he worked. Anil Kumar, the pillion rider, sustained severe injuries. The bus driver fled the scene, police said.

In another incident, Susheela, 58, of Tilak Nagar was killed in a hit-and-run accident, Thursday night. Susheela was crossing the road when a two-wheeler hit her and sped away. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital from where she was shifted to Nimhans.  She died late in the night.

Student commits suicide

Liza Sarkar, 25, a second year postgraduate student from Kolkata, was found dead at her rented room in Chelakere, Hennur, on Friday. Police said Sarkar committed suicide Thursday night.

However, the incident came to light on Friday when the house owner noticed that she had not gone to college and her room was locked. He found her hanging from the ceiling fan and alerted the police. A case has been registered at Hennur police station. The reason for her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Contractor ends life

A building contractor allegedly committed suicide at an under construction building in NR Colony. Daniel, 40, of Sanjay Nagar, went to the building Thursday evening for supervision.  The workers noticed his body hanging Friday morning. Police said Daniel was depressed due to financial difficulties.
