Competitions will be held for students

 Makkala Dasara will be held as a part of Madikeri Dasara celebrations on Saturday. A variety of programmes will be held for the students throughout  the day.

Makkala Dasara will be inaugurated by Zilla Panchayat President B Shivappa, at Gandhi Maidan. Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Education President Kanthi Belliappa will take part. Various competitions like drawing, rangoli, fancy dress have been organised for the students. Magic show will be conducted by Vikram and his team at Kaveri kalakshethra.
Artist B R Sathish has created a separate logo for the Makkala Dasara.

Sports meet

A district-level Dasara sports meet will be held on October 21 and 22, said Sports Committee President A C Chummi Devaiah. Speaking to presspersons, she said that running race will be organised for men and women, from Vijaya Vinayaka temple in Madikeri at 7 am. Throwball and kabaddi competitions will be held for the high school students, at district stadium at 10 am.

Football and volleyball tournaments will be held for men. Hockey player Poonaccha will inaugurate the meet. Frog race competition will be held for the tiny tots. Senior citizens will have 100 metre walking competition, musical chair and tug of war for women, aiming at the coconut will also be held.
