Police open fire, 2 dacoits nabbed

The remaining accused, who managed to give a slip to the cops, were later identified as Mukram, Asgar, Imran and Rafiulla.

Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal said that N R Station Police Inspector K N Yeshwanth Kumar and Udayagiri Police Inspector K T Mathew Thomas risked their lives to nab the accused. Yeshwanth Kumar came across a four-wheeler in which the accused were travelling, moving suspiciously on Sayyaji Rao Road around 1.30 am. Kumar fired in the air. Undeterred, the driver sped off, giving a chase to the cop. Yeshwanth then alerted Mathew Thomas who was at Mahadevapura Double Road through wireless.

Thomas who was standing in front of the metal barricade dived to save his life when the vehicle moved past him, before hitting a metal barricade. Later the dacoits started running away abandoning the vehicle. Yeshwanth shot at Haleem injuring him, while Irshad was nabbed by Inspector Thomas.
