Techie crushed under chariot

A software professional was killed and eight were injured when a temple chariot fell on them during the car festival held as part of ‘Vijaya Dashami’ at Lokapur in the taluk.

Vitthal Babaladi, 36, who worked for a firm in Bangalore, was sitting atop the chariot during the procession and jumped off when it started shaking.

Babaladi was caught between a compound wall and the chariot and had sustained severe injuries.

Other devotees pulled him out and shifted him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Eight others injured in the accident are Nagaraj Somappanavar, Kalappa Kambar, Bheemacharya Joshi, Bheemsen Babaladi, Ravi Joshi, Anil Muddapur, Hanumath Hukumannavar, Puttu Deshpande.

They have been admitted to hospitals in Bagalkot and
Mudhol.A case has been registered at the Lokapur police station.
