Man robbed of Rs 19 lakh in Raichur

 A man was robbed of Rs 19 lakh, which he had drawn minutes ago from a bank, by miscreants who diverted his attention and fled with the money at Mahamta Gandhi Chowk in the City on Thursday morning.

Vikram, owner of the Shreya Rice Mill in the City, lost the money. Police said Vikram withdrew the money from Corporation Bank near the Chowk and was on his way to his car, when a man allegedly told him that one of car tyres had deflated.

Even as Vikram was about check the tyre, the miscreant snatched the cash and fled in a two-wheeler, said Sadar Bazaar Police station SI Dayanand.

A case has been registered and an investigation is being conducted.

Past incident

This is not the first incident of its kind. Three years ago, a masked man barged into the cash counter of the National Bank near the Chowk.

After threatening the staff he demanded the bag containing money.However, he was overpowered by Bank’s security staff, and customers, who  handed him over to police.
