Andhra outplayed hosts Karnataka by 44 runs to emerge champions in the South Zone under-19 one-day tournament for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the Aditya Global Academy ground here on Friday.
Andhra, who needed to win their last match to topple Karnataka in the league table, won with a bonus point to clinch the championship. They finished with 20 points, while Karnataka came second with 17.
Electing to bat, Andhra made 206 before being bowled out in 48.3 overs. G Jayvardhan (50, 83b, 4x6) and Karan Shinde (53, 78b, 4x6, 1x6) were the main run getters. Prateek Jain was the most successful Karnataka bowler returning figures of 4-48.
In reply, Karnataka were bundled out for 162 in 42 overs. Nirmal S (39, 27b, 6x4, 1x6) and KN Bharat 44 (65b, 3x4) waged a battle for hosts who eventually fell way off the target. Vineel Kumar claimed 3-25 for Andhra.
