IHF's prez election on Nov 5

Following the resignation of RK Shetty as its chief, the Indian Hockey Federation will elect its new president at its Special General Body Meeting scheduled here on November 5.

Shetty resigned citing personal reasons and the IHF acted swiftly to announce election to its president.

“Subsequent to the resignation of RK Shetty, president of IHF, it has been decided to add the election of president as one of the agenda to the notice dated 18th October 2012 already circulated,” IHF secretary-general Ashok Mathur said in a letter to its members.

“As such the election of the president will also take place at the Special General Body Meeting of the IHF on Monday, the 5th November 2012 at 11.30 am,” he said.
Retired Justice SK Dubey will be the returning officer for the election which will be held by secret ballot.

All the state units have been asked to nominate two representatives -- one man and one woman -- to cast votes in the election by October 30.

Nominations can be filed on October 31 and November 1 on which scrutiny will be also done. The deadline for withdrawal has been fixed for November 3.

Mathur said that following Shetty’s resignation, the senior most vice-president V Dinesh Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police, will act as the head of IHF.
