The Solidarity Committee formed to support the struggle against Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant in Tamil Nadu would take out a march to the Kerala Secretariat on Monday demanding a resolution by the assembly against the project.

The plant posed a major threat to Kerala as any danger to the installation would affect the southern parts of the state though it was situated in Tamil Nadu, N Subramanian, General Convenor of the committee told reporters here on Saturday.

Being a central project, the plant should be opposed by the people of Kerala who should join the protestors in the neighbouring state demanding its closure, he said. The secretariat march on October 29 would be inaugurated by RSP General Secretary T J Chandrachoodan. Archbishop M Soosapakiam, poet Sugathakumari, Swami Sandeepanandagiri, Palayam Imam Jamaluddin Mankada,   social, cultural activists and journalists would join the march.

Several organisations including Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad, National Alliance of Peoples’ Movements, SUCI, Yukthivadi Sangham, SDPI, Kerala Fish Workers Federation, CPI(ML), Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha and Lohya Vichara Vedi have extended support to the march, he said.
