Japan business team visits B'lore

A 25-member Japanese business delegation visited Bangalore on Wednesday and held a meeting with senior officials of the Karnataka government on investment opportunities in the State.

The delegation, comprising members of Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Japan, has been exploring opportunities to invest in various sectors, including automobile, hospitality and healthcare, in the State. Chairman of NCCI Jiro Takahashi was leading the delegation, Principal Secretary to Commerce and Industries department M N Vidyashankar told reporters.

Currently, about 220 Japanese companies have set up shop in Karnataka. Japan intends to double this number in the next five years.
Hence, the delegation has been looking at various avenues of investment in the State, he said.

The State government, on its part, has appraised the delegation about the investment opportunities during the meeting, he said.
