Security guard murdered

A gang of dacoits allegedly bludgeoned a security guard to death at Talaghattapura on Kanakapura Road on Thursday morning.

The victim was identified as Thanaji Patil, 45, a resident of Vajarahalli in Thalagattapura, and a native of Belgaum.  He was working with Muthoot Fincorp Limited for the last one year.
A married man, Patil had two children, said the police.

According to the police, Patil noticed a gang of dacoits trying to break into the neighbouring Malalakshmi Jewellery and Pawn Brokers shop at Bainapalya in Vajarahalli.

He tried to prevent them when the dacoits made an attempt to break open the door. The dacoits attacked him with an iron rod and later threw the body in a ditch before absconding.
They, however, failed in their attempt to loot the shop, added the police.

The shop was closed for some days as the owner had gone to his native place in Rajasthan, a couple of weeks ago.

The dacoits might have made an attempt to loot the shop as they knew about the owner’s absence, added the police.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning when a few residents noticed the body in a ditch and informed the police.

The victim’s wife Shobha has filed a complaint with the police.

Two fire tenders put out the fire after nearly two hours. Cause of the mishap is yet to be ascertained, said the fire department staff.

A case has been registered with the Pulakeshinagar Police Station.
