NHRC asks UP to explain six hospital deaths

The NHRC on Firday asked the UP government to explain if the reports of the death of six persons in Gorakhpur allegedly due to snapping of oxygen by junior doctors after a scuffle with  patient’s relatives are true or not.

“Taking suo motu cognizance, the NHRC has issued notices to the secretary of department of medical education of UP and District Magistrate of Gorakhpur to submit a report in the matter within two weeks,” NHRC statement said.

According to reports, following the death of a patient at Baba Raghav Das Medical College, heated argument broke out between relatives of the patient and some junior doctors, who allegedly thrashed the kin.

When reporters tried to record patient’s family members statement and photographed them, the junior doctors allegedly attacked them.

Medical services in the hospital were paralysed and junior doctors allegedly stopped the main supply of oxygen due to which six patients died.
