Public knock on the doors of police stations to seek help at times of distress. However, police personnel here fear entering their place of work — the Rural Police Station.

Reason, stench emanating from the police station and also the dilapidated condition of the building.
Police personnel serving in the rural police station complain that the public toilet near the Old Bus Stand — adjoining the station — is leaking and making life miserable for them. Lack of pipelines has resulted in the sewage flowing into the police station.

The prison cells, uniform trunks, traffic signal lights, chairs and tables are submerged in the sewage flowing from the public toilet. The sub-inspector, assistant sub-inspector and constables have to discharge their duty amidst the mess.

A constable, on condition of anonymity, said if the mess isn’t cleaned up soon, the cops would have to be admitted to hospitals owing to various diseases.

Police personnel said they hoped that the construction of a new building for the town police station would solve their problems as they could shift into the existing building of the town police station. However, even after six months of completion of the construction works, the building is yet to be dedicated. MLA H K Kumaraswamy blamed deputy chief minister R Ashok also the home minister for the delay in opening the building.

The town municipal council too has failed to prevent the leaks in the public toilet.
