Kunal bags title in style

Kunal M of Tamil Nadu emerged champion in the all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament here on Monday.

Kunal drew with Karnataka’s Kishan Gangolli in the 10th and final round to end up with 9 points.

Ram S Krishnan of BSNL finished second with 8.5 points. He beat Prachura P P of Karnataka in the final round.

South Western Railway’s Joydeep Dutta, Kerala’s O T Anilkumar and Andhra Pardesh’s Priya V S S all garnered 8 points. However, Joydeep took the third spot on the basis of better progressive score, while Anilkumar and  Priya finished in that order.

Karnataka’s Vinayak Kulkarni, Prachura, Kishan, Gavi Siddayya and Augustine A ended up with 7.5 points and took the sixth to 10th spots.
