Last Updated 08 November 2012, 18:30 IST

Cardiac arrest and respiratory problem are reasons for the death of anaconda in the zoo recently.

According to the post-mortem report, it is confirmed that the snake died due to the aforesaid reasons, similar to another snake of the same species that died a few months ago.

The clotting of blood was noticed in the heart of the reptile, which may have occurred owing to the method of drawing blood.

Following this, the authorities have stepped up efforts to collect information related to anacondas at the Sri Lankan zoo, from where they were received as a gift.

In November last, the zoo had received five anacondas from Sri Lanka. Among them, two that died later had shown weakness since their arrival, executive director of Zoo B P Ravi told Deccan Herald.
