Sunand emerges champion

Sunand Vasan carved out a tough 12-10, 11-9, 6-11, 5-11, 11-8, 12-10 win over Shreyal K Telang to claim the Junior boys’ title in the 15th Dr MS Ramaiah Memorial table tennis tournament at the Malleswaram Association on Friday.

In the Junior girls’ section, M Madhurya and Maithreyee Bailoor entered the summit clash. Madhurya defeated Spoorthy 11-8, 11-6, 12-10, 11-6 while Maithreyee eked out a hard-fought 11-4, 11-7, 10-12, 10-12, 11-5, 13-11 victory over Archana Kamath.
